Q: How do I record my activity with my phone?
A: To record your run/walk, you will need to download a run tracking app that is able to track your distance and time. Popular apps include Strava, Nike Run Club, MapMyRun, and RunKeeper, and are available in the app store for free on your phone.
Q: Is there a time cutoff for the virtual 5K?
A: A virtual 5K is fantastic in that it can be completed at any pace and location. The only restriction on how long you take is the event submission window, which runs 12 am EST September 20 to 11: 59 pm EST Friday, September 24, giving you lots of time to complete your 5K.
Q: Can I run further than a 5K?
A: Unfortunately, our race app cannot adjust your time and distance if you ran over a 5K. However, you are more than welcome to fun further, we just ask you to submit your time once you have ran the 5K.
Q: Can I do my 5K over a few days and break it up and add up my total time to submit?
A: Unfortunately, while you can complete the distance at any pace, it must be completed in one go. To make the virtual experience as close to a physical event as possible, please submit your total elapsed time that it took to complete your chosen distance rather than total moving time. This will take into account any breaks or stops taken during completion and mimic the experience of a physical event.
Q: Can I run/walk the 5K at any time of the day?
A: You can complete your run/walk from Monday, September 20 – Friday, September 24. Just make sure you submit your results via the race app, by Friday, September 24 at 11:59 pm EST.
