Building Community in the Hybrid Workplace: Culture First, Technology Second

Jun 13, 2023
ED19
Education Session
Conferencing and Collaboration Diversity and Inclusion
In the last couple of years, every organization has spent a lot of time and effort in figuring out what technologies they need for hybrid work to work for everyone. How do we build community in the hybrid workplace for genuine human connection? In the past human connection was achieved in the office through small talk, lunch breaks, coffee breaks, etc. In the hybrid workplace, genuine human connection is harder to achieve. Lacking a strong connection with colleagues will eventually lead to employees feeling isolated and unsatisfied at work. This session will go over data from different research points from Gartner, Microsoft, and others to outline how to create connections and community in the hybrid workplace.
Learning Objectives
  • Understand that collecting data for employees interests and passions are important and to think about if their current technology stack allows this.
  • Understand how to create community connections using their current technology stack.
  • Discuss events and activities tailored to employee needs for in person and virtual connection.
