Case Study: A Metaverse Learning Experience at Scale

EY conducts a three-day on-site workshop for newly promoted executives across the Americas. In 2022 Global Learning wanted these executives to understand the impact the metaverse can have on our business, and so engaged IT to create and deliver a VR experience. Working closely with half a dozen teams in the business and IT, we provided 800+ people over 2 days with their first exposure to VR, in sessions that reached 178 simultaneous participants. The content walked participants through how we can apply the metaverse to helping our clients, and ways our clients can gain value from it too. Providing an experience like this at this scale is exceedingly unusual, so this session will explain the context and scope, describe our duplicatable approach, and explore the many lessons we learned (the hard way) along the way.

  • Understand and tackle the scope of providing a VR experience at scale.
  • Discuss corporate use cases mature enough to address, and those that need time to develop.
  • Identify and address a number of risks and warning signs that can lessen the experience for participants.
