Learn how to set up a small sound board for a live events! BYOD and get hands-on experience with a generic online sound-system simulator or just watch - your choice. This class is for absolute beginners and those with minimal experience. Using an online training device that each attendee can individually access, attendees are guided them through a hands-on workshop on common cables/connectors, signal pathway, amp/speaker order, basic board functions (inputs/outputs, gain, phantom power, etc) and common situations encountered when doing simple playback/reinforcement for live events.
Learning Objectives
  • Identify the common components in a simple sound system: Mic/input, mixing board, amps, speakers; and the signal flow pathway that connects those components
  • Understand the reason the sequence for turning on components in a simple live event sound system to avoid “pops."
  • Understand when phantom power is needed and how to turn it on.
