Project management is more than just managing time, scope, and cost. In this course, we focus on the business and strategic needs of AV and IT customers and the combined needs in AV/IT. Students will discuss the phases, processes, and knowledge areas in AV and IT project management as defined by their respective industry-leading sources. Amazingly, we find that while the AV and IT industries are very much alike we use very different terminology to describe just about everything. This difference in terminology includes the way we define and manage projects. Here, the class will explore the best practices and guidelines established by InfoComm, CompTIA, Cisco, PMI and BICSI to determine where the common threads are and where AV and IT approach project management with subtle yet meaningful differences. The attendee will gain a better understanding of where AV and IT project management overlap and learn how to exploit these commonalities as areas of growth.
