This workshop will start by introducing the basics of acoustics, first by defining what sound is then exploring different types of wave forms, the decibel, and frequency. The course will move into basic acoustic concepts such as reflections, absorption, diffusion, and refraction. We will then study the various acoustic parameters such as reverberation time, sound transmission classification, transmission loss, and speech intelligibility. Attendees will learn about the mathematical principles that are applied to acoustics and the propagation of sound (not too much math and it won’t be too difficult).
