"No one goes home humming the lights."

Sound is one of the most important components of any performance. When it’s done well, you might not hear a word about the sound. When it’s done poorly, it can damage a performance or venue’s reputation and cost the producer or promoter money. We’ll talk about the unique challenges of sound reinforcement in performance spaces due to both physical and personnel constraints.

We’ll also talk about what makes a show sound bad and what can be done to prevent bad sound for future productions. We’ll identify the causes of common problems and develop a framework for prioritizing corrective actions. Participants should leave this presentation armed with effective tools for advocating for improved sound performance in their venues.
