Networking Technology for AV Professionals
Note: This is a three-day course from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., June 13 -15.
VoIP has become a widely adopted method for transporting AV signals over networks. Delivering audiovisual content through network infrastructure may seem complex, but this course simplifies the key concepts from an AV professional’s perspective.
This AVIXA course introduces the fundamentals of networking, including how networks function, how they are designed, the role of network components, and how to maintain security when transporting AV over IP. Participants learn essential networking terminology to collaborate effectively with IT teams and understand how network design parallels AV system design, beginning with needs analysis.
Topics include how devices communicate on a network, the OSI and TCP/IP models, AV applications across network layers, common AV transport protocols for LAN, WAN, and streaming, bandwidth estimation, troubleshooting and analysis tools, basic security concepts, and practical AVoIP configuration examples.
After completing the course, learners will be able to communicate confidently with network administrators, support AV device integration, and contribute to designing secure and efficient networked AV systems. Recommended for integrators, consultants, AV/IT managers, and professionals responsible for implementing or maintaining networked AV solutions.
