Sustainable Design of Digital Media Experiences
Spaces of all types, from conference rooms to retail stores to urban residential developments, are increasingly positioning themselves as drivers of experience. Of those, digital media experiences sit at the intersection of architecturally integrated AV and digital storytelling which often involves complex and advanced content pipelines.
While strides are being made to improve the sustainability of the parts & pieces that make these experiences memorable, our design, integration, and end-user communities hold a unique ability to rethink this ecosystem as a whole and effect positive change well before the first component is specified and through the life of the installation.
Our session identifies areas of impact across Architecture, Hardware, Software, Content, and Operations and provides the tools to incorporate sustainability thinking through every step of the design-build-operate process.
We will discuss:
- Design foresight: how early collaboration between Architects, Technologists, and Storytellers can deliver more resilient and sustainable digital media experiences
- Hardware Strategies: balancing performance, lifecycle impact, modularity, reusabillity, and recyclability.
- Efficient Content Strategy and Pipelines: Optimizing experience design, content creation and playback to reduce carbon footprint.
- Operational Sustainability: from intelligent, responsive behaviors, through monitoring, maintenance, and user education.
- End-of-life: examine adaptability, reusability, and decommissioning/recycling
(This session is intended for Interior designers, Consultants, engineers and specifiers, systems integrators, and end users)
