Dr. Elizabeth Romero Fuerte is Sr. Director for Learning Technologies & Instructional Innovation with ownership of the university' strategic goals for innovation in teaching and learning with technology and the reinvention of flexible learning spaces. She works with UIC instructors to explore innovative ideas that advance student learning and works collaboratively with Technology Solutions and the Office of Campus Learning Environments in the design and support of UIC’s learning spaces. Dr. Romero leads a diverse team of learning innovators with responsibility for UIC centrally managed teaching and learning technologies, services, and end-user support. This includes the management of Blackboard Learn, UIC's learning management system (LMS), oversight of common-use classrooms and teaching laboratories, the development of centrally funded faculty development programs and instructional design services, the provisioning of multimedia resources and support for teaching, and the evaluation of emerging technologies. Dr. Romero has conducted research and presented at national and international conferences in topics related to multimedia applications for teaching and learning, online and blended learning delivery models, instructional design, organizational development, and learning communities. Currently, her work focuses on exploring new models for organizational learning that promote innovation in teaching and learning with technology.
