Monica E. Rodriguez, Ph.D. is a lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando. Her current research focuses on Latin American Deaf and hard of hearing self and personhood in educational settings, the medical encounter, and assistive technology use. Dr. Rodriguez has conducted ethnographic fieldwork in the US (Detroit and Los Angeles) and internationally (Guatemala and Ecuador). She currently teaches courses focusing on cultural anthropology, medical anthropology, and disability.  Monica received her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University (CSU), Northridge, her Master of Arts at CSU, Los Angeles, and her PhD at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, all in anthropology.
