Troy Powers
I have worked in higher education AV since 2008, combining a hands-on technical background with a long-standing focus on campus technology and support. Before entering AV, I was a licensed electrician in Virginia, and I later earned a BS in History from George Mason University, with specializations in Colonial America and Feudal Japan and a minor in American Government.
Today, I lead the AV support team for Northwestern University’s Central IT department, supporting several hundred learning and meeting spaces across campus. Before joining Northwestern, I held a similar role at George Mason University.
I also serve as Vice-Chair of HETMA, where I have previously served as Events Chair and an At-Large Executive Board Member. I also contribute to Higher Ed AV, HETMA’s media wing.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking with my dog, building furniture, playing video games, and cheering on my daughter Brooke as she pursues her nursing degree at George Mason.
