Wynn Johnson
Wynn Johnson has worked professionally in sound for more than 25 years. He is currently the National Director - Audio Services for Freeman where he focuses on long-term strategic planning for technology and labor. During his 17 years at Freeman, he has specialized in sound system design/optimization, audio-over-IP/fiberoptic systems, and wireless audio systems. This work includes designing and executing not just individual events, but the core systems Freeman uses on all their events and working with the manufacturers to create better products for the live events industry. He is most proud of the work he does mentoring and cultivating the next generation of audio engineers. Earlier in his career he recorded and mastered orchestral music for Sinfonia di Camera, led the sound department for the Utah Festival Opera, and designed and engineered sound for many large events, music festivals, operas, plays, art installations and dance pieces.
Wynn has a master’s in fine arts from the University of Illinois in Sound Design, Technology, and Management for Theatre, and a bachelor’s degree from Michigan Technological University in Liberal Arts and Music Technology.
